Alky Gaskets

Alkylation units in petroleum refineries employ strong acids as catalysts, typically sulfuric acid (H2SO4) or hydrofluoric acid (HF). These highly corrosive acids can severely damage equipment made from ordinary materials. LGG Industrial offers several uniquely designed gaskets that utilize specialized materials to work in these chemically hostile environments.

ALKY-ONE™ for HF Acid

Hydrofluoric acid is uniquely difficult to seal. It can aggressively damage flanges internally and is immediately dangerous if released. To meet this challenge, our patented, fire-safe ALKY-ONE™ gasket uses a Monel 400 Kamprofile primary seal and a 100% expanded PTFE barrier pillow to provide ID-to-OD sealing. The ALKY-ONE has a carbon steel outer ring, but other alloys are available upon request.

ALKY-ONE™ for Sulfuric Acid

Sulfuric acid is commonly used in Alkylation Units throughout the refining industry. The ALKY-ONE™ gasket for sulfuric units utilizes a kamprofile core of 316SS with facings of APX2 flexible graphite, a barrier pillow of 100% expanded PTFE, and a carbon steel outer ring. This advanced, fire-safe gasket provides full-flange protection and leak-free assurance.

SpiralKam

SpiralKam gaskets are fire-safe Spiral Wound Gaskets with serrated inner rings, faced with graphite or e-PTFE to create a seal on the ID of the pipe. The SpiralKam gasket is available for all B16.5 flanges and standard pipe schedules, and a choice of materials suitable for either HF or sulfuric acid alkylation units.
